The same book, at six depths: a ten-minute story, a plain summary, an application, a footnoted deep dive, sermons, and a version for children. Here is how to move between them.
Changing depth
Under the title of every page there is a row of small buttons: Story, Quick, Application, Deep dive, Sermon, Kids. They lead to the same passage at another depth, and the one you are reading is filled in. Nothing is lost: you can switch as often as you like.
The depths do not line up one to one — one application page often belongs to several deep-dive articles — so switching across and back may not return you to the page you started on. To get back to exactly where you were, use the back button rather than the buttons.
Getting around on a phone
- ≡ at the top right opens the menu, with every section of the site and the pages inside the one you are in.
- The magnifier beside it searches every page.
- Going back: the pages have no back button of their own. Use your browser’s back button, or swipe in from the left edge of the screen. If you have added the site to your home screen, the swipe (iPhone) or the back gesture (Android) does the same.
On a wide screen the sections are in the bar at the top, the search box at the top right, and the contents of the section you are in run down the left.
Looking for something specific
- A particular chapter: the chapter-by-chapter table puts all the depths side by side, one row per chapter.
- A question you brought with you — the rapture, 666, Armageddon: see Themes. Every answer ends with the other questions.
- Not sure where to start: the welcome tour walks you through, one page at a time.
While reading
Bible verses appear in violet — hover or tap one to read it, like this example. There is also the full list of Bible verses used on this site.
The moon at the foot of the page switches to dark colours.
