Bible: Revelation 14

The Picture

John saw a picture of a harvest — like when a farmer gathers up all the good, ripe fruit from the field. Jesus was gathering up everyone who stayed close to him, everyone who kept loving him no matter what.

That’s the most important thing of all: staying close to Jesus, even on the days it’s hard, or boring, or when nobody else around us is doing it. Just like a farmer gathers the good fruit carefully and happily, Jesus gathers up everyone who stays faithful to him, and he is so glad to have them.

“Jesus wins, and he loves us.”

Ask: “What matters most of all?” (Staying close to Jesus!)

Activity

Harvest Gathering Game: Scatter some soft play-fruit, fruit-shaped cutouts, or balls of crumpled yellow/red paper around the room. Have children “harvest” them into a basket while you say, “Just like we gather the fruit, Jesus gathers everyone who stays close to him!” Celebrate with cheering once the basket is full.

Coloring option: Color a simple picture of a full basket of fruit, with a smiling sun above it.

Simple Prayer

“Jesus, help me stay close to you every day, even when it’s hard. Amen.”

Note for the Teacher

Skip the imagery of the “winepress” later in Revelation 14, which is vivid and not appropriate for this age. Keep entirely to the harvest-gathering picture: Jesus happily and carefully gathers everyone who stays faithful to him. The lesson is simple loyalty and love, framed positively as being “gathered in,” not judgment.
