Rev. 21–22: Our New Home, the New Jerusalem

Reading time: 2 minutes

Our New Home, the New Jerusalem

Story to read: New Heaven and New Earth
Bible: Revelation 21–22

The Picture

John saw the most beautiful city ever — shining like jewels, with gates that never close, and God living right there with everyone he loves. In this city, there’s no more crying, no more “goodbye,” and no more owies. Just Jesus, and all of us, together, forever, in our forever home.

This is where our whole story has been heading all along: a beautiful home, with God right there with us, where every “goodbye” turns into a forever “hello,” and nothing sad ever happens again.

Our Refrain

Let’s say our special phrase one more time, all sixteen weeks together:

“Jesus wins, and he loves us.”

Ask: “What happens to crying and goodbyes in our new home?” (No more! Ever!)

Activity

Building Our Beautiful City: Using blocks, cushions, or a simple craft (paper, glitter, sequins, jewel stickers), let the children build or decorate a “sparkly city” together as a group project. While building, repeat: “God will live with us. No more crying. No more goodbye.”

Coloring option: Give each child a simple outline of a shining city with a big open gate to color with bright colors, gems, or glitter glue.

Simple Prayer

“God, thank you for our beautiful forever home with you. No more crying, no more goodbye. Amen.”

Note for the Teacher

Keep this session as the joyful, warm capstone of the whole series. There’s no need to mention the wall measurements or gemstone list from Revelation 21 — just the feeling of a shining, welcoming, wonderful home where God lives with us and sadness is finally over for good. This is a wonderful session to remind children of the whole series’ refrain one last time, since it’s the ending we’ve been building toward all along.
