Here is the story of Revelation, told just for you.
In the beginning
God made everything. The sky, the sea, the animals, and people. He made a garden called Eden. He made Adam and Eve. Everything was good.
But Adam and Eve did not listen to God. They believed a lie, and that made the whole world sad.
God did not stop loving them. He had a plan. He would send someone to fix everything and make it all good again.
God’s people
God picked a friend named Abraham and grew his family into a whole nation, called Israel. God loved them so much.
But Israel forgot God too, just like Adam did. Still, God did not give up. He promised: “One day, I will send a King. His kingdom will never end, and it will be for everyone.”
The vision (Ch. 1)
John loved Jesus. Some people sent him away to a lonely island because of it.
One Sunday, John heard a big voice, loud like a trumpet. He turned around — and there was Jesus! Jesus glowed bright, like the sun. John was so surprised, he fell down.
But Jesus was gentle. He put his hand on John and said, “Don’t be afraid. I died, but look — I am alive forever!”
Jesus told John, “Tell my people to shine bright, like little lights, because I am with them.”

The letters to the churches (Ch. 2-3)
Jesus wrote letters to his churches, like a teacher writing to her class.
To some he said, “You worked so hard! But don’t forget to love me and each other.”
To some he said, “You are poor, but you are so rich in my eyes.”
To some he said, “Be brave, even when it’s hard.”
To some he said, “Wake up! I still love you.”
Jesus knocked gently on every door. He never gave up on his friends, even when they made mistakes.

Worship (Ch. 4-5)
John looked up — and heaven opened! He saw a beautiful room with a shining throne.
Everyone in the room was singing and worshiping God. Right in the middle stood a Lamb. This Lamb was Jesus!
Everyone sang because Jesus is the hero. He is the only one strong enough and good enough to make everything right.
Once you meet Jesus like this, you never want to look away.

The seals (Ch. 6)
A scroll had seven seals, like seven locks. One by one, they opened.
Each time, something happened on earth. A pretend king tried to trick people. There was fighting. There was not enough food. It was a hard time.
But God’s people who had died called out to him, and God said, “Wait just a little longer. I see you. I have not forgotten you.”

The army of God (Ch. 7)
Before things got any harder, God did something wonderful. He put his mark on all his people, like a special sticker on each one, so everyone would know: “You are mine.”
This is God’s army. But it doesn’t fight with swords. It fights by loving God and never letting go of him.
No matter what happens, God’s people already know whose side they are on.

The trumpets (Ch. 8-9)
Loud trumpets blew, one after another. The world shook. Things people trusted in, like food and money, stopped working the way they wanted.
You might think everyone would stop and ask, “What really matters?” But most people held on tight to the wrong things instead.
A hard day cannot change a heart all by itself. Only Jesus can really change a heart.

The small scroll (Ch. 10)
Hard times could not fix people’s hearts. But something else could.
An angel gave John a little scroll and said, “Eat it.” John ate it, and it tasted sweet in his mouth.
The scroll was a beautiful secret: God’s story is true, and it comes out right in the end. That is sweeter than anything.

The two witnesses (Ch. 11)
Two brave helpers told everyone about Jesus. They were not afraid.
Some bad guys tried to stop them, and for a little while, it looked like the bad guys had won.
But then — surprise! The two helpers stood right back up again!
That’s how Jesus’s story always goes: it looks hard for a little while, and then everything turns out right.

The victory of Jesus (Ch. 12)
John saw a beautiful mommy with a new baby. A big dragon wanted to try something scary — he wanted to hurt the baby.
But God swooped the baby right up to heaven, safe and sound! The dragon fought in heaven — and lost! He got thrown down, far away.
The dragon was angry, but he could not win. Jesus already beat him.

The dragon and the two beasts (Ch. 13)
The dragon tried and tried, but he never won. He tried to hurt Jesus — and failed. He tried to stay in heaven — and got thrown out.
So he tried new tricks: two make-believe monsters, one strong and loud, one sneaky. They looked scary, but they were only pretend, copying the real King.
Pretend things never last. Only Jesus wins forever.

The two harvests (Ch. 14)
Jesus already won the big win, long ago. Now his friends stood on a sea that sparkled like glass, and they sang and sang, because they had stayed close to him.
Some people had chosen the bad guy instead of Jesus. That was sad. But everyone who loved Jesus got to sing with him forever.

The bad guy’s plans all fell apart, one by one, like sandcastles washing away. Everything false and fake could not stand anymore.
The armies of the earth got together, sure they would win. But they were already beaten — they just didn’t know it yet.

The harlot (Ch. 17-19)
There was a pretend queen who dressed up fancy and sparkly. She tried to trick people into following her instead of Jesus.
But underneath, she wasn’t beautiful at all. Her tricks did not work, and they fell apart.
Now the way was clear and ready for the real King and his people to be together at last.

The millenium (Ch. 20)
Even when it looked like God’s people were losing, they were really winning all along, together with Jesus.
Then came a big, fair check-up. Everyone who loves Jesus gets to live with him forever, and Jesus makes sure everything is fair and right.

The new heaven and new earth (Ch. 21-22)
Then came the best part! A beautiful city came down from heaven, dressed up like a bride on her wedding day.
A big warm voice said, “Look! I will live with my people now. I will wipe away every tear. No more crying. No more owies. No more goodbyes, ever again.”
The city sparkled with jewels, gold streets, and gates made of pearl. A clear river ran through the middle, with trees full of yummy fruit.
Everybody who loves Jesus gets to live there, safe and happy, forever and ever.
